When the narrative therapies such as the process of telling stories are compared to the grief theory, it can be observed that the mourning individual will have to be motivated to complete different activities. There has to be observation of the mourning individual’s reactions and respond to external stimuli. There is a phase of avoidance in which there can be the observation of loss-recognition of the mourning individual. This implies that the focus of the mourning individual will always be on loss and nothing else.
